Climate Resilience Planning Process (MVP)

RSVP to Participate in Gardner’s Web-based Climate Resilience Planning Process

After a brief pause due to the coronavirus pandemic, the City of Gardner is resuming work on its Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Plan. The City has planned a series of interactive online workshops to replace the all-day in-person workshop that was canceled in early April. The meeting schedule is below.

The MVP planning process is built on the knowledge, ideas, and opinions gathered from local people, like you. You can make a real contribution to the City’s climate change preparedness planning. Please RSVP as soon as possible.

Meeting schedule:

May 6, 9AM-11AM Introduction to MVP process and background information. Discuss likely climate change impacts on Gardner and key natural hazards that will be exacerbated by climate change.

May 7-May 12 Homework. Participants identify Gardner’s key strengths and vulnerabilities related to climate-driven natural hazards using tools provided by the City. This will take up to 1 hour.

May 13, 9AM-11AM Small group discussions of Gardner’s climate resilience strengths and vulnerabilities (based on homework). Begin to identify actions for building Gardner’s climate resilience.

May 20, 9AM-11AM Finish identifying climate resilience actions and prioritize the actions. Agree on top actions.

Meeting Technology

Meetings will be conducted using Zoom. The application is free and easy to use. You can join via a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone, or other digital device. A device with a webcam is preferred. If you do not have access to a digital device or the internet, you can also join by landline, but you will be unable to see meeting visuals or other participants. After you RSVP you will be supplied with instructions for joining the meetings.

What if I cannot make it to all the meetings?

The meetings will build off each other so we strongly encourage you to attend them all. If that is not possible, meeting recordings will be made available.
