Certificate of Fitness

Upon Property Owner or Manager request, the Gardner Board of Health can conduct a housing code inspection to vacant rental units.  If the premises has no violations and meets the requirements of the State Sanitary Code, a Certificate of Fitness for Human Habitation will be issued within ten days after the inspection. 

If the premises are in violation of the State Sanitary Code, the landlord will receive the inspector's report listing the violations. 

The Director of Public Health shall charge a $75 fee per unit to be inspected to the landlord for the issuance of a Certificate of Fitness for Human Habitation.
