Notice to all residents: We have been notified by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health that one EEE positive mosquito sample has been identified in Gardner. DPH also confirmed that since no human cases have been identified at this time, our risk level has not changed and we are still at moderate risk. Although there has been no change in the risk level, the Gardner Health Department would like to remind all residents to take precaution and use preventative measures to avoid mosquito bites, especially from dusk to dawn when mosquitos are most active. Long pants and sleeves should be worn and an EPA-approved insect repellent containing DEET should be used. At this time we are not canceling or limiting evening activities but will notify residents and reassess this decision if the risk level changes.
