The Gardner Housing Authority (GHA) administers a variety of housing programs sponsored by both the State and Federal Government. These programs include the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program (private sector apartments with rents subsidized by the Federal Government), State-Aided Family, Elderly/Handicapped units, and shared living in Congregate Elderly Housing (these apartments are owned by the State and managed by the GHA).

he only age requirement is for senior citizen housing. To qualify, the applicant or applicant’s spouse must be at least 60 years of age at the time of application. All other applicants, including handicapped and disabled individuals, must be of legal age to enter into a lease.

Yes. The Authority will grant a local preference for applicants who live or work within Gardner. Veterans and their dependent family members may also qualify to receive a preference. The Authority has an Affirmative Action preference as well.
